01What do I need to create a story?

Bring 8–16 photos and a few favorite memories. Birthday guides you through personal traits, ten reasons you appreciate them, three memories, and a letter. Anniversary guides you through four milestones, eight love notes, then-and-now memories, and a letter. Use photos and words you have permission to share.

02How long does it take to create?

It depends on how much you want to write. Gathering your photos and favorite memories first makes it easier. Work at your own pace; your writing is saved in this browser for 30 days. Photos need to be selected again if you leave before submitting.

03When is my gift ready to share?

Your completed story publishes automatically once payment is confirmed. Your gift link and QR code appear in My stories. If confirmation takes longer, you will see the payment status there.

04Can I make changes?

Yes. Edit your draft before purchase, then update your published story for 30 days. Saved changes appear on the same gift link immediately. After 30 days, editing closes and the story stays online for the rest of its hosting term.

05How long will the link stay online?

Three years from publication. We email you 60 and 7 days before the story and its photos are removed. Renewal is not included, so keep your original photos and writing.

06When do I pay?

Create and privately preview for free. When your story is complete and you are happy with it, pay $15 USD once, including tax, to publish. There is no subscription.

07Does the recipient need an app?

No. They open the gift link or scan its QR code in a browser. Stories are designed for phones, tablets, and computers, with touch-friendly interactions.

08Is my story private?

Your draft preview is private. Once published, anyone with the gift link or QR code can open the story. Published stories are unlisted and ask search engines not to index them; they are not password-protected.

09Can I add my own music or domain?

Birthday includes optional DearEver music that you can turn on or off. Anniversary stories have no music. You cannot upload your own audio or connect a custom domain; both stories use a DearEver gift link.
